A Vibration Isolator is normally an elastomeric or steel spring mount designed to reduce the transmission of undesirable or harmful vibration from machines and other sources of vibration.
The vibration reduction, or “isolation efficiency”, depends on the amount of compression on the isolator or the strain of stretch in its loaded condition. This is usually referred to as the isolator “static displacement”, where greater displacement leads to better isolation. Applications requiring very high isolation efficiency use an inflatable Air Mount as a Vibration Isolator. In this case, the isolation efficiency is related to its inflation pressure.
